My favourite makeup products of the month

January is always a great time to try out new makeup products. You may receive something from a brand you've never heard of for Christmas, or be able to cop a bargain in the Boxing day sale. My clothing choices for Winter always tend to be quite neutral- giving more room to play with colourful eye looks. Below are some new products- and some revisited ones- that I have been loving this month.

Essence Longlasting pencil eyeliners.

These are not a new find for me, as I have been using the white pencil for months. However, I recently visited Wilko and decided to pick up some more colourful shades. In terms of the colour payoff, this is far superior than any pencil eyeliner I have previously tried and because of the more streamlined shape of the product it is easier to guide intricately into a winged eyeliner look or focus neatly on the waterline. I have previously used liquid colourful eyeliners (NYX) but in terms of erasing any potential mistakes made, it is far easier with the Essence pencil. Also, due to being a twist-up design, there is no need for a sharpener, meaning it is even more convenient to pop in a travel/ hand bag and touch-up throughout the day.

Max Factor Facefinity foundation.

This foundation was a new discovery for me last year, but has sat at the back of a drawer for majority of its life with me ( sorry, foundation.) I started to reuse this when I ran out of my beloved KVD foundation and was surprised about how much I enjoyed it. My skin has currently been prone to breakouts and therefore I was really grateful for the lighter feel of the foundation ( despite still providing medium coverage.) I have dry skin and I found out of all the foundations in my collection, this one has kept my skin looking hydrated on the days in which I have worn it. Even better is that it is drugstore, and there are often deals available on Max Factor Products.

Natural collection Brow Pencil.

This has been a recent discovery of mine, but has already ended up in my daily makeup bag! Despite the tip being a little larger than other brow pencils, I find this one in particularly creamy and therefore lays down far easier than previous pencils I have tried. The fact the tip is larger means more product is laid down in application to the point where I don't feel the need to go in with pomade after. As an added bonus, it is only £1.99 at Boots.

Lottie London Eye Foil.

I received this in my Lottie London advent calendar and instantly it was love at first sight. I love glitter and this one is perfect for applying to the inner corner or all over the eyelid. The doe foot applicator would make this tricky to apply as liner ( although you could always apply to a liner brush) but allows for an even coat across the eyelid. What makes this glitter stand out from all the others is the amount of glitter which is distributed. I was previously using the Pixi FairyLights glitter but have swapped over to this one as it is packed with far more glitter to really make the inner corners pop, brightening up the whole eye. Also, in comparison with the Urban Decay glitter liners, I find this formular does not irritate my eyes ( I always get a slight tingling sensation when I use the Urban decay ones.) You can find this little beauty in Superdrug.

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara.

Previously, I have religiously stuck by my Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced, and I will admit that when I first received this mascara I was hesitant. However, the plastic wand allows for separation of the lashes that I found I could never achieve with the Better Than Sex mascara. The wand also picks up less product, which prevents clumping and waste of product ( because having to scrape off excess product on the side of the mascara container is never fun.) Furthermore, the packaging of this product feels unique, which is hard to achieve with a mascara, meaning it deserves a place on your makeup vanity. I do however find that I end up going over the lashes a little bit more thoroughly to achieve the length I want but I am happy to do this for the end result of more flirty, fluttery lashes.

What have been your favourite makeup discoveries of January, let me know!
