January is the time where new releases start to pick up after the Christmas period and we start to get more variety into the charts, which can stay pretty stagnant in December. Read on to find out what tracks I have been leaving on repeat all month...

Swan Song- Dua Lipa

'This is not a swan song'

A striking song from pop powerhouse Dua Lipa, vulnerable lyrics are carried over muted electronics. The song is carried well, with each verse clasping to the strength in the hook of the chorus. The song was created for upcoming film Alita: Battle Angel, due to be released February 5th 2019.

medicine- Bring Me the Horizon

medicine is the most accessible song on Bring Me the Horizons new Album 'amo' and therefore instantly became a track loved by Radio. This song encapsulates everything that it needs to make it a hit- catchy hooks, repetitive, memorable lyrics and impressive vocals from lead singer Sykes.

Burning- Maggie Rogers

Maggie Rogers' Debut album 'Heard It In A Past Life' is a collection of songs which show both strength and artist integrity. My personal favourite track is 'Burning.' There is an impressive level of production on this record, which can sometimes overshadow Rogers Voice, but 'Burning' allows you to get lost in the indie- voice in which she possesses.

It's Not Living ( If It's Not With you)- The 1975

A unapologetic love song which focuses on the personal relationship that lead singer Healy has with drugs, The 1975 perfectly tie dark lyrics together and create a pop sensation, with glistening guitar and an uplifting chorus. The song makes so easy listening, until you start to unravel the lyrics in which you find the obvious meaning that is somehow covered upon first listening.

Circus - Boudicca

When meeting this upcoming artist from Sussex, I never would have associated her with the sound in which she so confidently produces. Boudicca is a hip hop artist who mixes impressive lyrics with distorted beats. My personal favourite track off of her EP 'Princess and the P' is circus, where she addresses the crowd as if they were at the circus, painting the scene before the beat takes form. Boudicca creation of smart and savvy verses is what makes this sound stand out, despite being a genre I do not actively listen to.
